Highway 414: Seneca Lake East Shore
NY 414 · Watkins Glen → Lodi
The drive
Highway 414 leaves Watkins Glen, at the south end of Seneca Lake, and heads north on the east side of the lake. Just outside the village the road forks: Highway 414 takes the left fork, down near the lake, and Highway 79 goes up the valley.
North of the village it climbs gradually along the valley side through the town of Hector, with the lake below. Soon after entering Seneca County, the road turns northeast away from the water across level farmland to the village of Lodi.
The curves are gentle and the drive takes about 25 minutes. Highway 414 is the quieter counterpart to the busier roads around the lake.
