Carve vs Roadtrippers

For scenic drives, road trips and group drives · Checked October 2026

Carve (carve.run) is a scenic-drive planner and turn-by-turn navigation app for cars and motorcycles, on iPhone with CarPlay and Android with Android Auto — the Roadtrippers alternative for the road between the stops: twisty, scenic routes driven turn by turn.

The short answer. Roadtrippers is a trip planner: it's great at finding places to stop, attractions and campgrounds across the US and Canada. Carve is built for the road between them — finding the twisty, scenic way, then driving it turn by turn without being rerouted onto the highway. Carve's free plan has no limit on saved routes, and includes spoken navigation; Apex, at $29.99 a year, adds offline turn-by-turn, CarPlay and Android Auto, and Group for driving together — less than any of Roadtrippers' paid plans.
