The drive

Lamington National Park Road, usually called O'Reilly's Road, climbs from Canungra onto the Lamington Plateau and ends at Green Mountains, where O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat sits in the rainforest. Queensland Parks puts the distance to Green Mountains at 36 km; the drive ends just short of the retreat, 30 km (19 mi) in, and takes about 50 minutes.

The road is sealed but narrow, with frequent hairpin bends and blind corners all the way up from Canungra into the rainforest. It is a dead end, so you return by the same road.

Queensland Parks does not recommend the road for anyone towing a caravan or camper trailer, or driving a recreational vehicle longer than 4 m.
