The drive

Pichi Richi Pass is the gap through the southern Flinders Ranges between Port Augusta and Quorn. The drive starts at the Augusta Highway near Port Augusta and runs 33 km (20 mi) along Range View Road, route B83, into the ranges, ending in Quorn. The same road, the Flinders Ranges Way, carries on north to Hawker.

The road follows the Pichi Richi Railway through the pass. The railway line was completed through the pass in 1879, and today the heritage line runs 40 km between Quorn and Port Augusta, with trains run by volunteers, typically from March to November. The society's headquarters and a visitor information centre are at Quorn station.
