The drive

Horrocks Pass Road crosses the southern Flinders Ranges between Wilmington and the Augusta Highway. The drive starts in Wilmington and runs 20 km (13 mi) west, climbing to the pass and descending the far side in a run of bends. The pass lies about 6 km west of Wilmington.

The pass is named for John Horrocks, who crossed it in August 1846 on an exploration north of Spencer Gulf. A lookout and a monument to Horrocks and his party stand at the top, and the monument was dedicated on 21 September 1946. The drive finishes just past the junction with the Augusta Highway (A1).
