The drive

PR-333 follows the coast east of Guánica in southwest Puerto Rico, 5.6 miles in about 15 minutes. It runs through the Guánica dry forest country, a low, scrubby landscape with Caribbean views, and passes Caña Gorda, one of the area's popular beaches. The road ends east of Caña Gorda, short of any beach lot.

Guánica State Forest was set aside as a forest reserve in 1919 and named a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1981. It is the largest of Puerto Rico's state forests, with more than 700 plant species and about half of the island's bird species. Rainfall is low, so the forest is dry, hot and open.

The bends are mostly moderate with two tighter stretches and a few short rises. It is a short, relaxed coastal drive rather than a mountain road.
