The drive

RM 337 is the eastern Sister, the long ranch road that links Medina on Highway 16 to Leakey in the Frio Canyon. Leaving Medina, it follows the West Prong of the Medina River for about 12 miles through ranch land, then climbs over the ridges toward Vanderpool, where it shares about a mile with RM 187 near Lost Maples.

West of Vanderpool comes the stretch the road is known for: steep climbs and descents with hairpin turns, big drop-offs and low guardrails, past craggy hillsides with mountain laurel, before it drops into Leakey at US 83. Leakey, the Real County seat, is where weekend riders stop for the Three Sisters, and RM 337 carries on west from town as the first leg of the Twisted Sisters loop.
