Highway 25: Whitianga to Tairua
SH 25, Tairua Whitianga Road · Whitianga → Tairua
The drive
State Highway 25 is the sealed link between the two big east-coast towns of the Coromandel, Whitianga and Tairua, and this drive takes it south: 39 km (24 mi) in about 45 minutes. The road leaves Whitianga on the bypass, passes through Coroglen and Whenuakite, and winds over the hills into Tairua.
The curves are mostly moderate with two twisty stretches, through bush and farmland across the middle of the peninsula. From Tairua a side road leads to Pauanui.
It is the quick way between the two towns. The shortcut from Coromandel town to Whitianga is a different road and is not part of this drive.
