The drive

Colville Road runs north from Coromandel town up the west side of the peninsula to the village of Colville: 21 km (13 mi) in about 40 minutes, with bends nearly the whole way. The road runs through bush and along the harbour edge.

Colville is a small village near the northern end of the peninsula, and it has the northernmost shop on the road. The Colville General Store sells groceries and, according to a travel guide, petrol, so check that it has fuel before relying on it. Te Ara describes it as the last shop on the road to Port Jackson.

This is a dead end for the drive: it stops at Colville and returns the same way.
