Everglades Main Park Road
Everglades National Park, Florida · Homestead → Flamingo
The drive
The Main Park Road runs 38 miles from the Homestead entrance across Everglades National Park to Flamingo on Florida Bay. It passes the Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center and the fee station, then crosses sawgrass prairie, pinelands, cypress and mangrove under a big sky, with boardwalks and pullouts off the road.
It's driven in from Homestead, the only way in, and ends at Flamingo, the park's southernmost visitor center, with a marina, boat tours, campground and the Flamingo Lodge. The road has narrow shoulders and pullouts, and the posted limit is 45 to 55 mph in most areas, so the park asks you to allow plenty of travel time.
