Route 247: Lake Memphremagog
Eastern Townships, Quebec · Magog → Beebe Plain
The drive
Route 247 runs south from Magog along Lake Memphremagog, with views of the water, and ends at Beebe Plain on the Vermont border. Eastern Townships tourism recommends it as a motorcycle outing, and a Rider magazine writer calls it a scenic road that runs through Fitch Bay to the Beebe Plain and Derby Line border crossings.
Georgeville comes along the way, and tourism guides suggest stopping at its dock to see the bay from the water's edge. The lake itself spans the international border and was a notorious bootlegger route during Prohibition. The drive is 22.6 miles and takes about 40 minutes, and the curves are rated mostly gentle.
