A1A: Boynton Beach to Boca Raton
A1A, Ocean Boulevard · Ocean Ridge → Boca Raton
The drive
This is A1A's Gold Coast stretch, running south from Ocean Ridge through Gulf Stream, Delray Beach and Highland Beach to Boca Raton as Ocean Boulevard. It is a flat, palm-lined oceanfront road at low speed, 11.9 miles in about 30 minutes, with large houses between the road and the water in places.
Gulf Stream is part of the A1A Scenic and Historic Coastal Byway, where the road hugs the Atlantic between Ocean Ridge and Delray Beach, though much of the beachfront there is private. Ocean Ridge has public parks on the ocean, Delray Beach and Boca Raton have public beaches, and Highland Beach has no public beach of its own.
The drive picks up where the Palm Beach to Boynton Inlet drive leaves off, with a gap of about two miles at the inlet.

Good to know
- Weekend traffic is heavy and speed limits are low, so allow extra time near Delray Beach and Boca Raton.
- Public beach access is limited along the way, so look for the named parks and beaches rather than pulling off the road.
- The road is flat and straight enough that the draw is the oceanfront, not the curves.
