Hurricane Ridge Road
Hurricane Ridge Road · Port Angeles → Hurricane Ridge
The drive
Hurricane Ridge Road climbs 17 miles from Port Angeles into Olympic National Park, reaching about 5,200 feet in subalpine meadow. The park describes it as narrow and winding, and the climb is steady with plenty of bends. The view opens at the top, looking across to the Olympic Mountains.
The drive starts at the park visitor center in Port Angeles. Partway up is the Heart O' the Hills entrance station, where the park fee is collected. At the top, the old visitor center was lost to fire, and temporary buildings hold restrooms and a contact station that is staffed on some days. There is no drinking water on the ridge.
The drive is 17.4 miles and takes about 35 minutes.
