Drives Utah Moab and Utah's Canyon Country
Island in the Sky Road
UT 313 · US-191 → Grand View Point
The drive
The road to the Island in the Sky leaves US 191 as Highway 313, climbs a canyon and a set of switchbacks onto the mesa, and then becomes the Canyonlands park road south to Grand View Point. Mesa Arch is on the way. It is 33.4 miles and about 50 minutes, with two twisty stretches near the end.
The mesa sits high above the White Rim, so the point of the drive is the overlooks. The road dead-ends at Grand View Point, and you drive back the same way. A separate spur off Highway 313 goes to Dead Horse Point State Park, which has its own fee.
Construction at Grand View Point can affect parking at the end, so check the park before you go.
