RR 12: San Marcos to Wimberley
RR 12 · San Marcos → Wimberley
The drive
Ranch Road 12 leaves San Marcos and rolls about 12 miles northwest to Wimberley through cedar and oak hills. The state designated it in 1942 from San Marcos to Wimberley, replacing part of SH 80, and extended it to Dripping Springs in 1945.
Wimberley is a small Hill Country town with a downtown Square, and RR 12 passes right into it. Beyond Wimberley the road continues to Dripping Springs as a separate drive.
Weekend traffic is heavy, and the road gets busier as the area grows.
