RR 12: Wimberley to Dripping Springs
RM 12 · Wimberley → Dripping Springs
The drive
RR 12 is the main road through the western edge of Hays County, running about 38 miles from San Marcos through Wimberley and Dripping Springs. This drive takes the stretch north from Wimberley, climbing out of the Cypress Creek valley and over the hills to Dripping Springs.
It's a two-lane road of steady curves and short climbs through cedar and oak. It's the main link between the two towns, so it carries a steady flow of local traffic and more on weekends. The Devil's Backbone drive ends in Wimberley, so this makes a natural continuation north toward US 290 and Austin.
