PR-901: Yabucoa to Maunabo
PR 901, PR 760 · Yabucoa → Maunabo
The drive
PR-901 is the Ruta Panorámica's southeast coast stretch, a quiet road away from the highways. The drive starts on the old PR-901 alignment east of the Yabucoa roundabout and runs 8 miles south to Maunabo, where it ends on PR-760. It runs parallel to the coastline for several kilometers at an elevation of a few hundred feet, which is why it is considered a scenic route, and the road climbs and drops about 1,100 feet in short climbs.
The bends are mostly moderate, with three tight stretches. On the descents the Caribbean opens up below you. PR-901 was made a primary route while PR-53 was under construction, since it is a more direct way to Maunabo than PR-3, but it remains a small road with little traffic.
The Ruta Panorámica continues beyond both ends of PR-901.
