The drive

This drive runs 39.4 miles from Montoursville to Laporte through the Endless Mountains, following PA 87 through Hillsgrove to Forksville and then PA 154 into the Loyalsock Creek valley. It is a leisurely road, with mostly gentle curves and about 2,900 feet of climb in all.

The middle of the drive is Worlds End State Park, a 780-acre park in a narrow, S-shaped valley of Loyalsock Creek, just south of Forksville and surrounded by Loyalsock State Forest. PA 154 runs through the park, so the creek, the steep valley sides and the forest are what you see for most of the drive. From the park the road carries on up to Laporte, where it meets US 220.
