Inman Valley Road
Inman Valley Road · Victor Harbor → Yankalilla
The drive
Inman Valley Road is the quiet way across the Fleurieu Peninsula, 29 km (18 mi) from Victor Harbor to Yankalilla. It runs through the Inman Valley's farmland, with rolling hills and nearly continuous gentle curves, and it avoids the coast road. The valley is named for Henry Inman, the first head of the South Australia Police, who pursued two suspected escaped convicts there in 1838.
Cattle did well here from the earliest years, and by the 1880s the valley had a dairy industry. Today the country is grazing, dairy farms, forestry and horticulture. The drive ends on Inman Valley Road before Yankalilla town, where Main South Road runs on toward Normanville and Cape Jervis.
