Shoreline Boulevard and Ocean Drive
Shoreline Boulevard, Ocean Drive, North Shoreline Boulevard · Corpus Christi → Ocean Drive south
The drive
Shoreline Boulevard and Ocean Drive follow Corpus Christi Bay for about eight miles, from the downtown T-heads and marinas past the seawall and bayfront parks to the south side. The road is two to four lanes with traffic signals, a waterfront city drive rather than a twisty one.
Shoreline Boulevard opened in March 1941 on land created when the seawall was pushed about 100 feet into the bay and backfilled with dredge material. The seawall, designed by the sculptor Gutzon Borglum, has an L-head and two T-heads and was built after the 1919 hurricane. Its steps work as an amphitheater facing the sea.
The drive ends on Ocean Drive to the south.
