The drive
Route 14 runs up the western shore of Prince Edward Island, from the West Point Lighthouse to North Cape. At West Point you can climb 72 stairs to the lantern deck. Tourism PEI points to Cedar Dunes Provincial Park nearby for a swim.
Farther north, Skinners Pond is home to the Stompin' Tom Centre Homestead and Schoolhouse, which honors the singer-songwriter. Tourism PEI also lists Skinners Pond Beach among the region's best. The last stretch runs on Route 12.
North Cape is where the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Northumberland Strait converge over what Tourism PEI calls the longest natural rock reef in North America. The Wind Energy Interpretive Centre is there, with views of the turbines. The drive ends on the road short of the North Cape lot.
