The drive

Duffey Lake Road is Highway 99 between Pemberton and Lillooet, a winding road through very steep Coast Mountains. This drive starts at Mount Currie and runs east, first along Lillooet Lake, then up a steep, switchbacked climb past Joffre Lakes Provincial Park to Cayoosh Pass, the highest point on the highway at 1,275 meters.

From the pass the road follows Cayoosh Creek past Duffey Lake and drops into the dry Fraser country, ending on Main Street in Lillooet. It began as an unpaved logging road opened to recreational use in 1972, and paving was mostly finished in 1991.

The 55.5 miles take about 1 hr 30 min and gain about 6,200 feet in total.
