The drive

Comboyne Road climbs 23 km (14 mi) from Beechwood, near the Oxley Highway, up the Comboyne Plateau. It is a steady run of bends through forest and rainforest pockets, climbing about 2,900 feet to a high point of 2,000 feet, then the road opens onto farmland at the top.

Comboyne is a small plateau village between the Manning River valley and the Hastings River valley, on Tourist Drive 8. It has fuel, food and accommodation. The plateau has been dairy country for about a century, and farms grow avocados, macadamias and blueberries and make cheese and chocolate, with farmgate sales in season.

Rawson Falls in Boorganna Nature Reserve is a 5 km return walk through rainforest from the plateau. The road was damaged by landslips after the March 2021 floods and restored under a repair program.
