The drive

This is K-232, the Post Rock Scenic Byway, running north from Wilson through the Smoky Hills of central Kansas. KDOT named it for the limestone fence posts that settlers used in this region instead of wood. The road crosses I-70 at Exit 206, then runs along the east side of Wilson Lake and crosses Wilson Dam. The drive is 15.4 miles and takes about 18 minutes, ending short of Lucas.

This is a gentle drive of rolling hills rather than a curvy one, with lake views. K-232 has been paved since it was designated in 1961. Traffic is light, with an average of 238 to 340 vehicles a day.
