The drive

Topanga Canyon Boulevard is State Route 27 through the Santa Monica Mountains. This drive starts at Ventura Boulevard in Woodland Hills and climbs over the divide, then drops down Topanga Canyon past Topanga village to Pacific Coast Highway. It is 11.9 miles and takes about 25 minutes.

The road has tight bends and is shaded by oaks and sycamores in the canyon. You descend about as much as you climb, and the canyon walls close in as you near the ocean. The drive ends on the boulevard a short way before PCH.

It is a commuter road as well as a pleasure drive, so it fills at commute times.
