Drives New York The Adirondacks and the North Country
Prospect Mountain Highway
Lake George, New York · Lake George → Prospect Mountain summit
The drive
The Prospect Mountain Veterans Memorial Highway is a short toll road with one job: getting you high above Lake George. It climbs in tight curves from US 9, just south of Lake George village, to parking areas near the summit, with the lake laid out below and the Adirondacks behind it.
It's a dead end, so you come back down the way you went up. The view is the point; take your time at the top. The last stretch to the summit itself is on foot or by shuttle from the upper parking area.
Along the way
- Lake George (US 9)
- Prospect Mountain summit

- Storms can close it for a day or two even in season.
