Luritja Road to Kings Canyon
Luritja Road, Kings Canyon Road · Lasseter Highway junction → Kings Canyon Resort
The drive
Luritja Road is the sealed road from the Lasseter Highway to Kings Canyon, in Watarrka National Park. The drive starts at the Lasseter Highway junction and runs 165 km (103 mi) north through desert country, passing Kings Creek Station before ending at Kings Canyon Resort. The road is sealed all the way and the bends are gentle, so the drive is about distance and space.
The route is part of the Red Centre Way. It is the sealed way in to Kings Canyon, and the shortcuts are unsealed: Ernest Giles Road, for example, is a corrugated dirt road and not part of this drive. The drive ends on Luritja Road at the resort, a short spur from the car park for the canyon walks.
