Highway 16: Fredericksburg to Llano
TX 16 · Fredericksburg → Llano
The drive
Highway 16 runs north from Fredericksburg through granite hills to the Llano River at Llano, 37 miles of rolling ranch country with a few climbs and moderate bends.
Along the way, RR 965 leaves for Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, built around a 425-foot pink granite dome, and RR 1323 leads to Willow City and its Loop, known for spring wildflowers. The Loop is on county roads through private land, so the courtesy is to drive it without stopping. Both are separate trips from Highway 16 itself.
The drive ends in Llano. One rider's account suggests it as the stop for food and gas before the ride back.
