Seawall Boulevard, Galveston
Seawall Boulevard · Galveston → Seawall Boulevard west end
The drive
Seawall Boulevard runs along the Gulf side of Galveston Island on top of the seawall built after the hurricane of 1900. The beach is on one side and hotels and houses on the other. It is a straight, low-speed drive with traffic signals, about seven miles, ending where the Termini-San Luis Pass Road begins.
Construction of the seawall began in 1902, with the first segment finished in 1904. It started 3.3 miles long and was extended over the years to roughly 10 miles, with the last segment completed in 1963. In 2025 Guinness certified the seawall walkway as the longest in the world at 10.3 miles.
This is a coast and history drive, not a twisty one. It ends where the Bluewater Highway drive begins.
