Snowbowl Road
San Francisco Peaks, Arizona · US-180 junction → Arizona Snowbowl
The drive
Snowbowl Road climbs about six miles from US 180 up the San Francisco Peaks to Arizona Snowbowl. It runs through ponderosa pine and aspen, with switchbacks near the top and views back over the volcanic field. It's Forest Road 516, and it's a dead end at the ski area.
The drive stops on the road just below the lodge parking. Aspens turn gold in early autumn, which makes October a popular time to drive it.
