Drives Colorado Denver, Boulder and the Front Range
Poudre Canyon and Cameron Pass
CO 14 · Ted's Place → Walden
The drive
CO 14 follows the Cache la Poudre River, Colorado's only National Wild and Scenic River, west from Ted's Place on US 287. The first part is a canyon road with steady curves beside the water, popular with whitewater boaters and anglers. Past the canyon the valley opens, the road climbs through forest to Cameron Pass at 10,276 feet, and then descends into North Park.
Near the pass the highway reaches Colorado State Forest, about 70,000 acres of glaciated mountains and evergreens. The Nokhu Crags rise in the Never Summer Mountains here. The Moose Visitor Center, run by Colorado State Forest State Park, is on the west side, and moose are often seen under the crags and in North Park.
The drive ends at Walden, 83 miles from Ted's Place.
