The drive

US 250 crosses Cheat Mountain from east to west in its southern third, and this drive runs it from Huttonsville to Durbin. Cheat Mountain's highest point is Thorny Flat, at 4,848 feet, and several other knobs top 4,000 feet. Cheat Bridge is a community on the mountain's eastern side, and Shavers Fork runs along its more remote eastern flank.

US 250 in West Virginia is an auxiliary route of US 50, and through the Appalachian Mountains it winds its way to the Virginia line.
