Ponte Vedra Boulevard, A1A, Coastal Highway · Ponte Vedra Beach → Vilano Beach
The drive
This is the open north end of the A1A Scenic and Historic Coastal Byway. It starts on Ponte Vedra Boulevard past oceanfront houses, then follows A1A south between the Atlantic dunes and the Guana River marshes of the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve.
The drive ends at Vilano Beach, before the bridge into St. Augustine. The GTM reserve has a visitor center, open Tuesday through Saturday, and the GTM North Beach area has dunes that the regional tourism office describes as the highest in Florida. The A1A St. Augustine to Flagler Beach drive begins on Anastasia Island across town.
