Drives Montana Bozeman, Big Sky and Paradise Valley
Hyalite Canyon Road
Hyalite Canyon Road · Bozeman → Hyalite Reservoir
The drive
Hyalite Canyon Road runs south from the edge of Bozeman up the canyon of Hyalite Creek into the Gallatin Range, ending at the dam at Hyalite Reservoir. It is paved, winding and narrow in places. The road is a dead end, so you return the same way.
The Forest Service finished paving the upper road in 2020-21. Beyond the dam it turns to gravel, so this drive stops there.
It gets busy with hikers on weekends.
Along the way
